It is installed without removing the chain as it consists of two parts, one internal and one external. Compared to traditional chainrings, in addition to lower wear, the AXP reinforced chainring has a much higher lateral flexion and impact resistance; these characteristics help to avoid derailing the chain in case of frontal and/or lateral impact.
